The
Swiss style Chalet rests in five acres of native bush and is
designed to capture majestic views of Mount Egmont/Taranaki
on the doorstep.
The
Chalet, purpose built in 1995, has three guest bedrooms.
The Top Room is on the third floor. The log staircase
arrives at a mezzanine floor which, apart from a relaxing
area, has a magnificent panoramic view of Mt. Egmont/Taranaki.
Off the mezzanine floor is the main large timber panelled
bedroom with King size bed. The en-suite has heated
bubble bath, twin vanity unit and imported Swiss closomat
(bidet/toilet).
The standard
rooms situated on the second floor again are timber panelled
including the en-suites and have a standard double bed.
The outside door opens out onto a balcony overlooking native
bush with many young Rimus, Tuis and Bellbirds. A sun
trap for the first cup of tea of the day.
The Egmont
National park starts opposite the front gate. We are
only five kilometers from the Mountain House and its internationally
famed restaurant and a further three kilometers to the Stratford
Plateau and skifields. The National Park offers family
tramps, round-the-mountain trek, summit climbs (guides available)
and snow skiing. Rental Skis are available. Trout streams
are just across the road, and famed gardens, park reserves,
museums and scenic drives nearby. Helicopter summit
flights can also be arranged.
